The Mohel

Rabbi Paysach J. Krohn is a fifth generation mohel. He is affiliated with leading New York hospitals, such as the world-renowned Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.

Rabbi Paysach Krohn has written a classic, authoritative book on ritual circumcision entitled BRIS MILAH: CIRCUMCISION -- THE COVENANT OF ABRAHAM. This is a compendium of laws, rituals and customs from birth to bris, anthologized from Talmudic and traditional sources. Published by Artscroll⁄Mesorah, it is now in its 10th printing.

Rabbi Krohn was the youngest mohel ever to be certified by the New York Brith Milah Board. He began his practice shortly before his late father, Rabbi Abraham Z. Krohn, passed away in 1966. Since then, he has performed thousands of brissen and today is performing brissen on the children of the boys he circumcised 25-30 years ago. He has been called to perform brissen in such exotic places as Puerto Rico, Bermuda, the West Point Naval Academy, and, understandably, Israel. Mohelim throughout the United States and abroad often call him in consultation. He lives in Kew Gardens, NY with his wife Miriam and takes great pride in his family.

Rabbi Krohn is also known throughout the Jewish world for his books and lectures. In addition to the Bris Milah book he has written a series of six books of Jewish short stories, known as the Maggid Series and well as other titles. He has lectured in cities around the world, from Jerusalem to Johannesburg, from Montreal to Miami, in Europe, and in South America. He has a series of more than 80 tapes on topics ranging from parenting, marriage, character development, and Torah education.
